The Magic of Brittany & Mont Saint-Michel

We begin with a comfortable journey down to Portsmouth, with stops along the way. This evening, we board the overnight ferry to St Malo, settling into our en suite cabins for a restful night as we sail across the Channel.

Bonjour, France! We arrive early into the historic port of St Malo, before continuing to the lively city of Rennes. With its half-timbered houses, charming squares and great cafés, Rennes makes for a lovely day of discovery. Later, we travel to our base for the next four nights — the modern and welcoming Ibis Styles Saint Malo Port.

Today is all about one of France’s most iconic landmarks — Mont Saint-Michel. Rising from the bay like something from a fairytale, this UNESCO-listed island abbey is truly breathtaking. You’ll have plenty of time to explore the medieval village, wander the ancient ramparts and enjoy the spectacular views.

A free day to enjoy St Malo at your leisure. Explore the walled old town with its ramparts and sandy beaches, browse local boutiques, or simply relax with a crêpe and coffee as you soak up the Breton atmosphere.

We start the day with a scenic river cruise from St Malo to the medieval town of Dinan, gliding through peaceful Breton countryside. Once in Dinan, enjoy some free time to explore the cobbled streets, charming shops and timber-framed houses. Later, we rejoin the coach for a short journey back towards St Malo, stopping along the way at the Musée du Cidre. Here, we’ll discover the region’s cider-making traditions — and enjoy a few tastings, of course!

We board the ferry for our return crossing to Portsmouth, then continue home with fond memories of our French adventure.
