Lake Bled: Where Fairytales Begin

Our journey starts with excitement as we cross the English Channel to Calais. Once in France, we continue towards our first overnight stay in Northern France.

After breakfast, we travel eastward through the heart of Germany, enjoying ever-changing landscapes along the way. By late afternoon, we reach the beautiful Austrian Alps and check in to the charming family-run Scheffer’s Hotel for our overnight stay.

Today we journey across the border into Slovenia and arrive at one of its most iconic destinations: Lake Bled. With its clear waters, picturesque island church, and hilltop castle, it’s like something from a storybook.

Today is yours to enjoy at your own pace. Perhaps sip coffee at a lakeside café or indulge in a slice of the famous Bled cream cake. It’s a perfect day to simply unwind and let the magic of Bled wash over you.

We begin the day with a half-day guided tour of Ljubljana, Slovenia’s charming and vibrant capital. Discover its historic old town, colorful architecture, and lively riverfront. In the afternoon, we visit the renowned Lipica Stud Farm, the historic home of the noble Lipizzaner horses. Learn about their royal heritage and enjoy a guided tour through this fascinating estate.

Get ready for a full day of natural beauty and authentic Slovenian experiences. We begin with a guided tour of Lake Bohinj, a quieter, untouched cousin of Bled, set deep within the Triglav National Park. Then, we ascend to the summit of Mount Vogel via cable car, where panoramic views of the Julian Alps await. Our day ends with a visit to a traditional local cheese farm, where we’ll learn how the cheese is made—and, of course, enjoy a delicious tasting.

Today is filled with wonder and discovery. First, we explore the magical underground world of the Postojna Cave, one of the largest cave systems in Europe, complete with a unique electric train ride through its tunnels. Afterwards, we visit the dramatic Predjama Castle, built right into a towering cliffside.

After a final breakfast by the lake, we bid a fond farewell to Slovenia and begin our journey back west. We travel into Germany for our overnight stay.

Today we continue our return journey, travelling through the scenic regions of northern France to our final overnight hotel.

We catch the ferry back across the Channel and arrive home with wonderful memories.
