In the Footsteps of Saint Patrick: A Journey Through Northern Ireland

We begin our Irish adventure with a journey to Holyhead, where we board our afternoon ferry crossing to Dublin. On arrival, we continue to Newry and check into the welcoming Canal Court Hotel.

Today we enjoy a scenic drive through the majestic Mourne Mountains, with sweeping views and photo opportunities along the way. Our destination is the charming seaside town of Newcastle, where you’ll have free time to explore the promenade, relax by the sea, or perhaps enjoy a treat in one of the local cafés.

This morning we head to the pretty heritage village of Carlingford, where you’ll have time to explore its medieval streets, shops and waterfront at your leisure. Then enjoy a scenic crossing on the Carlingford Ferry from Greenore to Greencastle, before visiting NearyNógs Chocolate, a family-run craft chocolate experience.

We begin with a visit to the Saint Patrick Centre in Downpatrick — the world’s only permanent exhibition dedicated to Ireland’s patron saint. Afterward, we enjoy a two-course lunch at Denvir’s, the oldest surviving coaching inn in Downpatrick, full of character and local charm. The rest of the day is free to relax or enjoy Newry at your own pace.

After breakfast, we depart Newry and make our way to Rosslare for our evening crossing to Fishguard, continuing home with wonderful memories of Northern Ireland’s hospitality, history and scenic beauty.
