Itinerary

Day One - Early departure from West Wales for our journey North to our Hotel in Newcastle Upon Tyne, with comfort stops on route.

Day Two - Today we visit Beamish Museum. This exciting, open-air museum's guiding principle is to preserve an example of everyday life in urban and rural North East England at the climax of industrialization in the early 20th century. Our return journey will take us to see the contemporary sculpture of the Angel of the North Statue. Believed to be the largest angel sculpture in the world, its 175-foot wingspan is bigger than a Boeing 757 jet.

Day Three - Founded in 1987, the Morpeth Chantry Bagpipe Museum contains a large collection of historic bagpipes, especially, but not exclusively, historic Northumbrian Small Pipes and Border Pipes, mainly based on the collection of William Alfred Cocks. This afternoon, we visit some remains of Hadrian’s Wall. Being the best-preserved frontier of the Roman Empire and one of Britain’s most awe-inspiring historic landmarks, this is a must visit while in the area. Its 73 miles took around 15,000 men about six years to build.

Day Four – Today, we visit the historic city of Durham. Wander around the picturesque setting of the Romanesque Cathedral and Norman Castle, with the looping River Wear and grab yourself a bargain at the popular daily market. The afternoon will be spent touring the sights of the surrounding area, before heading back to our hotel in plenty of time for our evening meal.

Day Five – Sadly, it’s time to depart our hotel, hoping to arrive home late afternoon.
