Itinerary

Day One – This morning, we leave home and head East to our base for the next 4 days; Bosworth.

Day Two – This morning is all about the history of the Midlands. Firstly, we head to the National Memorial Arboretum; the UK’s expansive centre of Remembrance. With over 330 thought-provoking memorials, nestled amongst peaceful woodland, they commemorate those who have been killed on duty or as a result of terrorism from the Second World War to the present day. After some time to enjoy this marvellous location, we head on for some lunch in the beautiful city of Lichfield.  This afternoon, it’s time to explore the Bosworth Battlefield Experience at the Bosworth Heritage Centre, where you will hear the dramatic story of the battle of Bosworth, 1485, where Richard III fought for his crown and lost his life, and Henry Tudor become King! This multi award-winning experience boasts interesting interactive displays, unique objects unearthed at the scene, and the incredible story of how the archaeologists discovered the true location of the Battle.

Day Three – After breakfast at the hotel, we will begin our day tour of the tastes of the Midlands. Our first stop is the charming village of Melton Mowbray where we will visit the Oldest Pie Shop. Melton Mowbray, the home of the pork pie and Stilton cheese is the third oldest market town in the country, explore the history and heritage of the town, and find out about how the pork pie came about in our Pork Pie Making Demonstration and tasting! After some time here, we will head to the National Brewery Centre, Burton Upon Trent. Here, we will discover the history, art and fun of brewing with the help of our guide, and of course, we may need to sample some of the produce while we’re there!

Day Four – Sadly, it’s time to start our journey home, with comfort stops on route.
