Day Two – This afternoon, we arrive in Cantabria’s capital city, Santander. It is then on to our hotel, in time for our evening meal.
Day Three – After a leisurely breakfast, we will head to the picturesque coastal town of Comillas. With cobbled streets, open squares and historic buildings, this beautiful town will have you feeling totally relaxed. One of the main attractions here, and a must see, is the incredible El Capricho building, designed by Anton Gaudi. It does have other architectural masterpieces to enjoy such as the Sobrellano Palace Chapel and the Pantheon. You may decide to stroll around these fascinating sites or relax on the famously clean beach here. This afternoon, we will head to the beautiful village of Santillana del Mar where you will have time at leisure to explore its cobbled streets and admire the honey coloured churches.
Day Four – Today will be a day at leisure to enjoy the host town of Isla. You may want to relax at the hotel and make the most of the fantastic facilities available. Or, head to the town centre for a stroll, or if you’re feeling adventurous, you could venture to one of the neighbouring towns or villages via the service buses.
Day Five – After breakfast at the hotel, we will head for a day out exploring the area. Our first stop will be the picturesque fishing village of Castro Urdiales. Be sure to visit the majestic Santa Maria Church and Castle. We will then head to Santona and Laredo. These towns have both got some fascinating history, although they are better known for being tourist hotspots in the summer. When you get there, you’ll see why!
Day Six – Sadly, it’s time to leave our hotel and make our way home. We will enjoy a leisurely morning at the resort, before heading back to Santander for our overnight ferry back to the United Kingdom.
Day Seven – This morning, we will continue the final part of the journey towards home, with comfort stops on route.
