Come and join Shon on his journey through the splendid Norfolk Broads. The area is possibly most famous for the man-made Broads, a National Park with over 125 miles of navigable lock-free waterways set in beautiful countryside and studded with charming and picturesque towns and villages. And Shon has picked the best of the best for you to enjoy here during your holiday.
Dunston Hall is a stunning English country house set in 150 acres of beautiful Norfolk woodland. It has 166 bedrooms and a leisure Club, including an indoor pool, steam room, sauna, whirlpool and gymnasium.
Day One - We depart Pembrokeshire and start our journey towards the Dunston hotel.
Day Two - This morning, after breakfast we make our way to Aylsham. Here, we board the steam train and travel to Wroxham on a journey through the Norfolk countryside. After our arrival, we move from train to boat for a relaxing cruise on the broads. Pass exquisite houses and supreme wildlife as we sit back and watch the world go by.
Day Three - This morning, we make our way to Sandringham, the much-loved country retreat of Her Majesty, The Queen. The house, set in 24 hectares of stunning gardens, has knowledgeable guides in every room and the museum houses collections of Royal vehicles, rare ceramics, photographs and memorabilia. We spend the day exploring the house, gardens, museum and Visitor Centre. We then make the short journey to another gem in the broads, Bircham Windmill, which still looks as it did over 100 years ago. It’s considered one of the best still remaining: it is the only windmill in working order in this area and it’s just the place for a stop, before we make our way back to the hotel.
Day Four - Today we have the best of both worlds and something for everyone. Caister Castle is home to a wonderful castle and gardens. Also home to a motor museum that house the largest private car collection in the UK, what could be better? Well, after a day of cars and castles you all deserve a drink. On our return to the hotel we call at Woodforde’s Brewery for a tour and tasting.
Day Five - Sadly, it’s time to depart the Broads and start our way back to Wales.
