Explore Orkney’s historical mysteries by visiting the extraordinary remains of villages, stone circles and tombs, which are sure to fire your imagination. Continue on board the cruise ship to Shetland, where the beautiful landscapes and seascapes will not disappoint.
First overnight hotel – The Fisher’s Hotel, Pitlochry
Second overnight hotel – The Dornoch Hotel, Dornoch
Inbound overnight hotel – The Holiday Inn, Preston
Day One – Leave Crymych in the morning and head North to our overnight hotel, the Fisher’s Hotel, Pitlochry.
Day Two – We continue our journey North via Inverness, before arriving at our second overnight stay, at the Dornoch Hotel, before boarding the ship.
Day Three – After breakfast, we will board the MV Homnavoe in Scrabster, Thurso at midday and depart for the 90-minute sailing past Britain’s highest vertical cliffs and the Old Man of Hoy. We arrive in Stromness, where we meet our local guide. The afternoon will be spent touring the island. Visit the World Heritage sites of Skara Brae, Stones of Stenness, Ring of Brodgar, plus Skaill House Churchill Barriers, Itlaina Chapel and Scapa Flow. This evening’s meal will be enjoyed at one of the local restaurants (included in your holiday). We will then depart Kirkwall for Lerwick on an overnight sailing.
Day Four – This morning, we arrive in Lerwick, on the island of Shetland. After an enjoyable breakfast on board, we will depart the ship for a day tour of the island with a local guide. Visit the outstanding site of Jarlshof in the south and Scalloway Castle & Museum. Enjoy an evening meal on board, then settle into your cabin for an overnight sailing to Aberdeen.
Day Five – The cruise will end in Aberdeen at 7am. Breakfast will be served on board, before disembarking and beginning our journey home. We will stop at Gretna Green to get those all-important souvenirs, before heading to the Holiday Inn, Preston for our overnight stay.
Day Six – Depart the hotel in the morning and head home with comfort stops on route.
