Travel to the Isle of Man on an early afternoon crossing from Heysham. After our arrival on the island, we make the short journey to the hotel The Chesterhouse in popular seaside town of Douglas.

After breakfast we make our way to Castletown which still holds true as one of the oldest towns in the British Isles. Its narrow streets and small fishing cottages prove this ancient past at every corner. The medieval Castle, once the home of kings and later government, still dominates the centre of town First stop of the day is the Silverdale Glen complex, and awardwinning Manx Ices. Powered by a refurbished 18th Century waterwheel, you will learn how historical methods are used in modern day production with a guided tour. Continue south to the ancient capital of Castletown and see the wonderfully preserved Castle Rushen. Time allowing, see the wonderful views around Calf Sound, before arriving in Port Erin, nestling in its scenic bay. From here, step back in time and hop aboard the island’s Steam Railway for a journey back to Douglas.

Excursion across the scenic centre of the island to the sleepy town of Peel, said to be the best example of a typical Manx town. See the dramatic castle, dip your toes in the sea, or relax in
one of the cafés. This afternoon allows free time in Douglas. We recommend a visit to the Manx Museum, or an optional ride on the Snaefell Mountain Railway; a spectacular climb to the island’s highest point at 2036ft (admissions not included).

First stop today is Laxey for an included visit of ‘Lady Isabella’, the world’s largest working watermill and perhaps the best-known image of the island. Continue via Ramsey, where we
include admission to the beautifully maintained Milntown Gardens.

Sadly, it’s time to depart the beautiful island and head for our morning crossing back to Heysham for homeward journey.
