Hotel Website

Day One - We depart Crymych and make our way to Fishguard for our afternoon crossing. After arriving in Rosslare, we head to our hotel.

Day Two - After a full Irish breakfast, we make the short journey to Athlone. This being the county town of Westmeath. Athlone is the Midlands' largest town and a great place to spend a few hours. The River Shannon splits this former garrison town in two, with most businesses and services sitting on its eastern bank. In the shadow of Athlone Castle, the western bank is an enchanting jumble of twisting streets, colourfully painted houses, historic pubs and antique shops. We then take the 90min river cruise from Athlone to Clonmacnoise before returning to our hotel.

Day Three - Top of the morning to you as we head deep into the heart of the country by visiting the Arigna Mining Experience. Since its opening in 2003, it has welcomed over 350,000 visitors. After a short video describing what you are about to see, you will begin the tour underground, with an ex-miner acting as a tour guide taking us into the mine. The tour underground is literally a journey through a way of life (All on one level). After an informative visit we make our way to Carrick on Shannon. Enjoy the Irish hospitality or take a river cruise that set from the town before we take a scenic route back to the hotel.

Day Four - Today we start the day with a visit to a town called Tullamore, made famous by its legendary triple distilled whisky. It would be rude not to call while we are here. A tour and tasting experience awaits you. After some free time in Tullamore we call at Derryglad Folk and Heritage Museum. No trip to the heart of Ireland is complete without a visit to this unique museum. Privately owned and run by the Finneran Family, the museum houses a unique 35-year collection of over 6,000 items. These include; horse drawn machinery restored to the original working order, tradesman's tools and butter making equipment.

Day Five – It’s time to depart the delights of Lough Ree and start the journey back towards Rosslare for our early evening ferry back to Fishguard.
