Visiting Highclere Castle, one of England’s most beautiful Victorian castles, is like walking into history. Set amidst a thousand acres of spectacular parkland, it has been made famous in recent years as the home of Downton Abbey in the popular TV series. This holiday will be an interesting experience for lovers of history and fans of the Downton Abbey TV series and film.

The Norton Park Hotel is one of the finest hotels in Hampshire, set within its own 54 acres of parkland. All 166 bedrooms are elegant and contemporary in style with some rooms being accessed by a covered walkway. The warm and welcoming restaurant is located on the first floor and there is a stylish bar and lounge. Excellent leisure facilities include an indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi.
Day One – This morning, we leave home and head East for our hotel in Norton Park, with comfort stops on route.
Day Two – After breakfast at the hotel, we will head to Highclere Castle, or as many of you know it, “Downton Abbey”. Explore “behind the scenes”, the real history of the castle, and the gorgeous gardens. Stroll around in your own time, and make sure to ask the guides that are scattered around if you have any questions regarding the stunning home, inspiring landscape and of course “Downton Abbey”. On our way back to the hotel, we will call in to Newbury for some free time. You may decide to visit Kennet shopping centre, treat yourself to a coffee in one of the many coffee shops, or stroll around the historic town. After some time here, it is time to head back to the hotel for our afternoon tea.
Day Three – After a leisurely breakfast, we will head for home, with comfort stops on route.
