Itinerary

DAY ONE

This morning, we begin our journey towards our first overnight hotel in Northern France.

DAY TWO

After breakfast at the hotel, we continue South to our second overnight hotel, with pretty comfort stops along the way.

DAY THREE

This morning we continue towards our lakeside hotel at Lake Maggiore.

DAY FOUR

Today is a day at your leisure to enjoy the resort of Stresa. You may decide to take the boat out to Isola Bella and visit its beautiful Palazzo stately home and elegant Italianate gardens where its famous white peacocks roam, before continuing by boat to Isola dei Pescatori (Fishermen’s Island), the only island currently inhabited.

DAY FIVE

Today we visit the beautiful Lake Orta, one of Northern Italy’s best kept secrets. We will take the scenic route over to the top of the lake, where we make our first stop in Omegna. Here you will find the river that flows upwards. We then make our way south via the scenic lakeside road taking us to its capital, Orta San Giulio, which has a delightful medieval centre full of cobbled streets, galleries, and local crafts. You may even decide to take the boat to Isola San Giulio, said to be one of the most beautiful islands in the world.

DAY SIX

Located at the foot of the Alps, Lake Como provides one of the most picturesque sceneries in the world. And today we head to the beautiful city of Como, on the Italian-Swiss border. With
a beautiful main square, with many shops and cafés, as well as delightful little streets, a Romanesque church, Como Cathedral and Piazza San Fedele, you will be delighted with what you find here.

DAY SEVEN

Today we have an exciting day in store on the Lake Maggiore Express. We start the day with a picturesque train journey from our host town of Stressa to Domodossola. It is then
on the Centrovalli Railway for a panoramic train journey between Domodossola and Locarno. This 2-hour train ride takes us through the picturesque “one hundred valleys”, passing deep gorges and crevices with glittering cascading waterfalls as we travel across colourful alpine meadows, over numerous bridges, and through vineyards and forests of chestnut trees. From here, we board the relaxing cruise back across the lake to Stressa.

DAY EIGHT

Sadly, it’s time to leave the beautiful hotel that is Hotel Astoria and begin our journey North. Don’t worry, the holiday isn’t over yet, we still have more beautiful stops for us to enjoy.

DAY NINE

After breakfast at our overnight hotel, we continue to our next overnight, with comfort stops along the way.

DAY TEN

We continue towards home, with comfort stops en route
